Sac State wins indoor track championship titles

The Hornets’ men’s and women’s track and field teams dominated the competition at the Big Sky Conference indoor track championships on Saturday in Pocatello, Idaho.

The women scored 144 points en route to their second consecutive Big Sky Conference title and the third in the last four years. Idaho State finished in second place with 94 points.

The men scored 133 points, narrowly beating Northern Arizona, which finished with 132.5 points. It was the first indoor team title for Sac State’s men since back-to-back championships in 2007 and 2008.

Ronald Brookins was named the Men’s Most Valuable Athlete and the Men’s Most Outstanding Performer after his 7.79 second performance in the 60-hurdles.

Senior Lea Wallace was named Women’s Most Outstanding Performer following her victory in the 800 with a time of 2:07.35.
