Former Hornets quarterback McLeod Bethel-Thompson is on his way to the Arena Football League.

Bethel-Thompson, who started for Sac State in the 2010 season opener before he suffered an ankle injury, has signed a contract with the San JoseSaberCats.

Bethel-Thompson finished his Sac State career with 1,615 yards and eight touchdowns in 24 career games.

SaberCatshead coach DarrenArbetwas a linebacker for the Hornets from 1981 to 1985. Former Sac State and Mountain Lions receiver Fred “Otis”Ameyis also a member of theSaberCats.

The three-time ArenaBowl Champions return to the AFL this year after a two-year absence from the league. The AFL suspended operations in 2009 before returning in 2010.
