The Sacramento State women’s soccer team won their second straight conference game Friday, beating Eastern Washington 2-0 at Hornet Soccer field. Junior forward Kim Kemper scored both goals for the Hornets.

“Overall I’m pretty happy with our performance,” said head coach Randy Dedini. The first half they gave us a little bit of problems, but we managed it and played much stronger in the second half.”

The Hornets (8-6-1) offense was relentless as they out shot the Eagles 25-5. Kemper supplied the Hornets with all the offense they needed as two of her four shots found the back of the net giving her six goals for the season.

“It feels good to finish. In the beginning of the season we had a lot of games were we weren’t finishing,” said Kemper.

The Hornet’s offense has exploded over the last two games as they out scored their opponents 6-0. The defense has also stepped up as they have not allowed a goal in two games.

The Hornets now look to take on Montana to finish off their weekend strong and better their conference record.

“Our main focus right now is on Montana Sunday, because either we’re going to be 2-2 or 3-1 (in conference play),” said Dedini. “The job is half done this week and hopefully we’ll finish it out on Sunday.”

Sacramento State will take on Montana on Oct. 19 at 12 p.m. for their last home game of the season at Hornet Soccer field.
