Power outage ends classes early

The power went out at about 6:42 p.m. today at Sacramento State, forcing students to file out of classrooms, confused if class would be canceled for the evening.

Photography major Sarah Rutter made use of her mini light to illuminate her paper work she was working on when the lights went out in her photography 138 class in Mendocino Hall.

After 20 minutes, her teacher Sam Parsons canceled class since it uses the computers in the labs to edit photographs before the photos are shown on the screen for discussion.

Students began to leave the campus, but found a line backed up with traffic to leave campus.

Two police cars were parked at the stop light on College Town Drive, while two officers directed traffic as students left campus.
