Greek party measure fails first vote of IFC

The Interfraternity Council voted against a measure Sept. 15 that would have required fraternities to register all of their events with IFC. This measure, which was intended to help a Greek row in the future, was almost unanimously voted down.

The Sigma Chi fraternigy voted for this measure, and does not feel it is a dead issue.

“There are a few technicalities to be worked out,” IFC President and Sigma Chi member Brandon Kline said. “We are bringing this issue back up tonight, and hopefully the bugs will be worked out.”

Other fraternities and organizations are content with this decision and feel it will benefit the Greek community.

“It might have been a good idea for IFC, but the fraternities obviously don’t want it,” Panhellenic President Colleen Ripchick said. “It might help the togetherness of IFC, but it will have to wait for the future.

The Greek adviser, Heather Dunn Carlton, was not able to comment due to the flooding of the University Union and sorority rush week.
