Games Room has new look

Monday was the opening of the newly renovated Games Room at the union. New lighting, ceiling tiles, and carpeting were added to give the room a more modern and attractive look, according to Don Tucker, assistant director of operations for the union.

Norma Sanchez, program services supervisor for the Union, agrees with the changes to the game room.

“It was needed,” she said. “(Renovations) haven’t been done since it opened in ’76.”

With renovations starting in December, workers were finished Jan. 20, just in time for the first day on instruction. The Games Room saw an increase in activity as Matthew Baltazar, a third year Business major, approved to the new changes while playing a game of pool with a friend.

“It’s nice compared to what it use to be,” Baltazar said. “It doesn’t feel like it’s part of the campus and it’s nice to be able to get away.”

The union board of directors haven’t decided whether or not they will extend the operating hours of the Games Room, Tucker said, but is worth looking at.
