The Student Access Center is giving away a turkey and a $25 gift certificate to Safeway on Wednesday to help students prepare for their Thanksgiving dinners in exchange for providing the center valuable feedback.

Students interested in winning the prizes can walk into the center, located on the first floor of the University Union, and fill out a quick five-question survey to enter the drawing.

Winners of each prize will need to stay by their phones when they are announced at the end of the weeklong contest Wednesday.

The center has been holding this contest for five years and every year has had success.

“It’s always effective,” Student Activities Center manager Sarah Reyes said.

Reyes has worked for the center for four-and-a-half years and said the center always gets good feedback in its surveys.

Students have been excited about the prizes.

Carmela Tandoc, assistant manager for the Student Activities Center, said a student came in at 9 a.m., right as the center opened, to fill out a survey and enter to win the turkey or gift certificate.

“People have been coming in a lot between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m.,” Tandoc said.

The Student Access Center is a student-managed program, funded by Associated Students.

The center gives students information on off-campus housing, scholarships, jobs and many other student needs.

The center also held a Valentines Day drawing earlier in the year, which gave away a $50 dinner-for-two gift certificate to the winner.
