United we grow
May 1, 2001
I would like to start off by extending a heartfelt thank you to every student that took the time to vote this last Tuesday and Wednesday. Your vote is one of the many ways you can make your voice heard on this campus, and this year we had more people vote than in years past. We have every reason to be proud of ourselves. I thank you.
I would also like to congratulate all the candidates for their hard work, dedication, and effort given to this election. The new ideas and energy brought to the table by all who participated has changed the way campaigning will be handled on this campus for many years to come. Thank you and congratulations!
Where do we go now? Does it all end here? For some it does. But for those that truly believe in what they stood for, the fight has only begun.
Support US was created by a group of students who love this campus and all that it has to offer. We are people who represent all facets and identities of this campus? from athletes to student-parents and everything in between. The dreams, goals and enthusiasm of these people have infected many and will only continue to grow because of the number one priority that Support US has maintained from the beginning of this election?personal contact.
Surveys can be given and polls can be taken, but numbers do not mean anything. Numbers are emotionless; they have no feelings. What really makes the difference is when you get face to face with another student to find their wants, needs and concerns, then you can get a feel for how that person is doing as a Sac State student. That connection is what campus life is all about.
Campus life consists of the daily interaction between the students, faculty and staff on this campus and the emotions that they share. This is what Support US was founded on. This is what we have believed in from the beginning.
So we will continue that personal contact and we will continue to fight for the students of CSUS. We must make our voices heard so that our lives as students can be easier and more enjoyable. This is why Support US is now the club, United Students. To let everything that we stand for die would be a sin and so we continue to pledge our support to you, to US.
United Students will, with this personal contact, continue to be the bridge between ASI and the students, striving to increase awareness and involvement in all areas and aspects of campus life. We want all of you to be supporters.
Make your voice heard on this campus and share your ideas with others. It is time that we take pride in what we have and who we are in attending California State University, Sacramento.
United, we can make a difference!
