Coat drive for kids

The Students California Teachers Association chapter is having a coat drive for kids beginning Nov. 21 and ending Dec. 15. Students can donate gently used and new children’s coats in the bin near Java City and Mellow Me Out.

Jamie Falls, chapter president, said students can also donate adult sizes since some children will be able to wear them.

Falls said the coat drive is part of the community outreach program. Last year they hosted a book drive and 250 children’s books were donated to the program.

Jamianne Velosa, chapter vice president, said the coats will be given to News 10’s annual “Coats for Kids” drive.

Falls said the goal is to collect 100 coats.

“I hope we get more than that,” Falls said. “Channel 10 has a goal of 10,000 coats.”
