The Sacramento State Hornets (28-7) will take on the Minnesota Gophers (18-12) Friday night in Palo Alto.

Exact time and the location of the gym have yet to be announced.

The Hornets earned their spot in the NCAA first round after winning the Big Sky Conference Tournament Saturday night with a three-game sweep of Portland State.

This year marks the 10th time in the last 11 years that the Hornets have qualified for the tournament. Last year the Hornets ended the postseason with a 0-3 loss to Stanford in the first round of the tournament.

Saturday night’s win was monumental for the Hornets as it was the last home game for head coach Debby Colberg.

It was also the first time in three years that the Hornets had won the championship match in a three-game sweep.

This year’s NCAA tournament appearance will be the 20th for Colberg.
