For the second time this week, women’s volleyball has been defeated at home in a five-game match.

This time it was the Weber State Wildcats who beat the Hornets in five games (30-26, 27-30, 16-30, 30-27, 23-21). The loss is the first one at home that the Hornets have had against Big Sky opposition since 1999.

The Hornets are now 22-6 overall and 9-2 in the Big Sky.

In the fifth and decisive final game, the Hornets had a 12-6 lead until the Wildcats scored five in a row to keep the game within one. After a long rally the match ended with back-to-back kills from Brittney Bisaillon and Leah Burmeister.

The Hornets have now lost three out of the last four matches after their 15 match winning streak was ended. All six losses this season have come in matches that gone five games.

The Wildcats had a dominating defense, limiting the Hornets to a .167 hitting percentage. Michelle Franz led the Hornets with 18 kills and eight blocks. She also had a team-best .378 hitting percentage.

The Hornets struggled with their defense, lacking the ability to receive the Wildcats powerful serve. The team still managed to post a season-best 119 digs.

The team will play tomorrow night against Idaho State at 7 p.m.
