The women’s tennis team, currently ranked No. 60 in the nation, will play No. 23 Fresno State in the first round of the NCAA Tournament on Friday, May 12, at 1:00 p.m. The announcement was made yesterday by the NCAA selection committee. The match, hosted by Cal at the Hellman Tennis Complex in Berkeley, represents the Hornets’ fifth-straight appearance in the tourney. The tourney bid was earned automatically by winning the Big Sky conference champioinship.

The Hornets faced Fresno State earlier this season, falling 7-0 to the Bulldogs. If Sac State wins, they would face the winner of No. 11 Cal vs. Western Michigan match in the second round, to be held on Saturday, May 13, at noon.

The team seeks to advance to the second round for the first time in school history.
