Associated Students, Inc. is attempting to uncover who made approximately 26,000 copies sometime between early December and the end of the winter break, when the typical volume is approximately 8,000.

ASI President Artemio Pimentel believes that this has been an ongoing issue in ASI.

“It?s an issue we?ve had to deal with before. Students who are involved here are also involved with other organizations on campus and that being the case, they are not using good judgment,” Pimentel said. “It?s an issue that ASI has been having,”

ASI allots $6,000 for copies each year, a line item from the association?s $7 million student fee based budget.

Each ASI department has its own code. The 26,842 copies were made under the board of directors copy code.

“Someone had to have brought their own paper for this. The average is about 6,000 copies for that amount of time and this is definitely over the limit,” Pimentel said. “We?ve thought of locking up our paper supply to make sure it doesn?t get abused,”

Pimentel believes that the paper used to make the copies had not been supplied by ASI.

“If we were to pinpoint the person in the board of directors, we would take action. This is definitely an abuse of power,”
