Hornet Photo Galleria Presents: “The Space”

Doniel Soto, professor of theatre at Sacramento State, recently started his own theatre production in downtown Sacramento called Abandoned Productions. The theatre is a physical theatre- one that expresses an idea through the body alone, with little to no props. The first production, “Stream of Consciousness,” will be performed on Friday and Saturday nights, from February 16 to March 31.

“Stream of Consciousness” explores various realms of emotions, including fear, grief and happiness. This is expressed through song and acting, all created by Soto.

The play embraces the mental process of the stream of consciousness. The series of thoughts that can go through one?s mind throughout one day- from the serious to the lighthearted- are explored throughout the performance. Soto said that these performances “force one to take an emotional roller coaster ride.”

“It takes a certain level of dedication until it completely takes you over. It takes you to another level emotionally and spiritually. It raises you up,” said Mathew Husfan, performer in “Stream of Consciousness.”

Soto said that the creation of the play took a route of its own.

“I started with one idea, and created it through acting and voice, then added to it,” Soto said.”It takes you into a different world. It is an experience where you forget your lives and are able to share this experience with others.”

Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at Abandoned Productions, 2509 R Street, Sacramento. For further information call, 737-2304.
