To mark the beginning of February?s “College Awareness Month,” Sacramento State is sponsoring a program on Saturday to help elementary school students and their parents prepare for college.

In an attempt to show students the importance of family planning for college, a video called “College: Making it Happen” will be shown, and representatives from various local organizations will answer questions.

The video, which will be shown in both English and Spanish, was created by California school students ranging from kindergarten to college. Organizers of the event are striving to help families plan and save early so that their children may one day attend college.

Although the event is aimed at middle school students and their parents, the event is free and open to the public. It will take place in the University Union Ballroom on Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
