Viewmaster Madness hits Sacramento State

See how graphic design students look at the world at “Viewmaster Madness,” a graphic design show that will begin Sept. 18 and continue through Sept. 28 in Mariposa Hall 4000E.

The show will display 15 students’ work through View-Master viewers, the classic 3-D slide show toy.

As part of an assignment, students were to capture how they perceive this life in three dimension.

“The students explored different ways of showing their views of the world,” said Professor Gwen Amos, graphic design. “They liked the fact that the View-Master format was unique.”

The artists took their own pictures, cut their own film and put the pictures in reels. Students were so fascinated by the assignment that they wanted to put on a show.

A reception for Viewmaster Madness will be held Thursday from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Artists will be present to discuss their work.

“Many students took the assignment very seriously and made a personal statement through their work,” Amos said. “Others just had fun at it.”
