North Indian performing artist, Padma Talwalkar, will visit Sacramento State on Sunday, Oct. 1 to vocalize her talents.

A well-known classical vocalist, Talwakar has received recognition as being one of the outstanding female vocalists of the younger generation.

Her original style was acquired through different types of training. Talwakar?s cross-fertilization of ideas from three main Hinduistic styles or gharanas has given her a leadership role for her generation.

Two highly regarded solo artists will accompany Talwalkar. Satyajit Talwakar will be on tabla, and Arawind Thatte will accompany on harmonium.

Padma Talwalkar is currently on tour in the United States and Canada. Her concert on campus will be her second performance in the United States.

To see Talwalkar?s performance, the costs for open-seating tickets are $8 for students and $15 for general admission.

You can purchase the tickets on campus from the Central Ticket Office, at 278-4323, online at www.tickets.com, or at the door one hour prior to the performance.

It will be held on Sunday, Oct. 1 at 4 p.m. in the Music Recital Hall.

The concert is sponsored by the Vivek Wagle Foundation in cooperation with the CSUS Music Department and the World Music Club.
