State Hornet Staff

The National Weather Service issued a flood warning for the Central Valley, including the Sacramento Area, Friday afternoon until 7 p.m.

According to the flood statement excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of streams, country roads and farmlands along the banks of creeks.

Highways, underpasses and other low lying areas are subject to flooding.

Sacramento Bee reporter Cathy Locke reported flooding in streets, especially near storm drains, had been reported early Friday afternoon. Deep water in areas with poor drainage is also expected, according to the advisory.

The National Weather Service states that a flood warning means that flooding is imminent or has been reported.

A tornado warning was also reported Friday, lasting 30 minutes, and expiring at 7:11 p.m. Friday night.
