Breathe Carolina to perform at Sac State on Thursday

Kyle Even and David Schmitt, both from Denver, Colo., have always been interested in music. Each of them started off in different bands but, with a twist of fate, each of their bands broke up and they came together to form Breath Carolina.

“It all started with David saying ‘Let’s write a song,’” Even said.

The band performed at Ace of Spades last summer and will be visiting Sacramento State for the first time next week. The show on Thursday at Sac State is the first show kicking off the band’s month-long tour with the band, The Ready Set.

With musical influences from Jay-Z and Kanye West to Refused, the members of Breathe Carolina said they could not be happier with where they are at right now in their lives.

“We look up to the people and things that are right in front of us,” Even said. “People like Beyonce and the guys from LMFAO know what they want and make it happen – that’s what we find inspiring.”

Another thing the band will never forget and always keep in mind was its first Warped Tour performance in their hometown.

“Warped tour in Denver is one of the most memorable moments ever,” Even said. “We got to have our family and friends up on stage with us and it was an amazing experience.”

At their shows, band members said they enjoy performing songs such as “Wooly” and “Blackout” because they love the reactions from their fans.

The show starts at 7:30 p.m. and tickets are $12 for Sac State students and $17 for the public.
