Quran Jones will stand trial for last year’s killing of fellow dorm mate Scott Hawkins at the American River Courtyard Residence Hall, a Sacramento Superior Court judge ruled today.

Jones, 21, was shot by Sacramento State police during the incident and was left paralyzed.

The judge determined a trial was necessary after a brief pre-trial hearing that included testimony from two detectives.

Along with the testimony, new information was presented such as a stab wound to Hawkins’ brain and Jones’ written statement, which said, “I kill people.”

Jones’ next court appearance is Nov. 19. at 8:30 a.m. at the Sacramento County Courthouse, Department 61.
