Women’s basketball punches its ticket to the Big Sky Conference Tournament

Team effort was the main focus tonight. 

The Sacramento State women’s basketball team reserved a spot in the Big Sky Tournament as it put away Northern Arizona, 78-68, with four players in double digits tonight at the Walkup Skydome in Flagstaff, Ariz. 

Hornets’ sophomore guard Fantasia Hilliard led the team with 16 points and senior forward Kylie Kuhns earned her 12th double-double of the season with 14 points and 13 rebounds. 

Junior guard Alle Moreno added another 15 points and senior Natasha Torgerson pitched in 10. 

Sac State held the lead throughout the entire game and created a 24-point margin in the second half. 

This win improves the Hornets’ record to 10-6 in Big Sky and 15-10 overall. 

Northern Arizona was led by Erikka Banks with a game-high 25 points and 14 rebounds and Lumberjack’s guard Amanda Frost’s 16 points. 

The Hornets will continue their road trip and travel to Weber State to face the Wildcats on Thursday.
