Wild parties, time for relaxation, and most of all, no class for a whole week are all results of one thing: Spring Break 2006. With just a couple of weeks away, plans for this year’s spring break are already buzzing in the halls of Sac State’s dorms.

The dorms are going to be closed for the week, so since they’re pretty much forced to get up and go, it’s no surprise that some students are planning on leaving town and making the most of their vacation.

I got the chance to ask a few students about their plans for the much-anticipated break and relaxation seems to be the goal amongst the consensus.

“I’m most likely gonna chill at home, do some spring-cleaning, and maybe utilize my gift cards from Christmas,” said Philip, a pre-nursing major living in Sierra Hall.

Others plan on catching up on their favorite activities.

Vince Vontersch, freshmen at Sac State and a resident of Jenkins Hall, plans on going to Arizona and “playing a lot of golf ” and “spending time with family.”

Victor Inneh, a first year living in Draper Hall, has plans of spending time in Los Angeles with family.

That seems to be the thing to do, aside from going to Mexico of course.

“The ‘it thing’ seems to be going to Mexico since it’s cheap, warm and there’s plenty of alcohol,” Jeremy, a Sierra Hall resident majoring in business-finance said.

However, Jeremy, 21, plans on doing otherwise. “I plan on relaxing and visiting my girlfriend who’ll be home for the week.”

Vontersch and Inneh also mentioned Mexico as a place where they’ve heard people are going although they’ve never been. When asked about the notorious party scene in Mexico’s Rosarito, Inneh laughed, “Yeah, we should make our own Rosarito here.”

Inneh’s got the right mindset for spring break – if you can’t get to the party, bring the party to you.

Regardless of what is planned, have fun and live it up for spring break 2006.
