Maxeen rocks Orangevale tonight

Maxeen, a trio from the city of angels, mixes a pop-punk, power-pop and a touch of a vintage 80s sound- all available to you- live, tonight.

Each song off of their self-titled albulm has a very different sound and likeness. There is a variety of influence ranging from such 80s bands as The Police or Loverboy to a newer pop-punk sound like Blink 182 or Jimmy Eat World.

During a phone interview Tom Bailey, vocals and bass, he shared that he has been listening to a lot of Peter Gabriel, Michael Jackson and the Charlie Brown theme song. This is probably why their new demo “Echolalia” sounds more of a darker toned REM song that is lead by the sound of a keyboard.

Maxeen has been in the studio for the past year writing a new album set to be released by Warner Bros.

“There is a lot of opposition in some of the songs,” Bailey said referring to their new album with such titles as “stay,” “let go,” “black out the world” and “wrap the world around you.” This opposition may be an underlying theme in their upcoming untitled new album.

Maxeen uses a variety of melodies and hooks that are seamlessly perfect for radio and MTV.

If you are into progressive, “new-wave” pop with shrilling vocals, check out Maxeen on tonight at 8:30 at Sacramento’s very own Boardwalk on 9426 Greenback lane in Orangevale. Ticket are $15. For more information click here.
