ASI Vice President of Finance Peter Ucovich was appointed to serve as the Academic Senate Student Liaison for the California State University system.

In addition, he was nominated to serve on the General Education Committee pending approval from Chancellor Charles B. Reed.

Ucovich was nominated for both positions by Jose Slache, President from CSU, Domigez Hills, at a California State Student Association meting held at CSU, Chico on October 13. He won an election amongst CSU student representatives from all campuses.

The Academic Senate is the statewide equivalent of Sacramento State’s faculty senate and comprised of CSU administration and faculty from all 23 campuses.

The Academic Senate functions to address academic issues such as general education requirements, enrollment management, and the hiring of full-time faculty.

“I am honored to represent all of the students in the CSU system,” Ucovich said. “I plan to take my positions very seriously and work towards providing students with quality education.”

The General Education Committee functions similarly to the senate, except they report directly to the chancellor.
