Associated Students Inc. set to launch new site

Associated Students Inc. is set to launch a new website in the coming weeks that will aid the organization in processing documents.

The new web site proposal was approved by ASI’s board of directors at their fist meeting following five months of anticipation for approval.

“Last week we entered into a contract with Six-One-Nine, Inc. (619) to design, install and implement a new website for ASI.” said Erin Hicks, ASI press secretary.

ASI’s current website will still be use and will use the site for day-to-day needs and updates, Hicks said.

The website contract, valued at $10,000, was prepared in July, but was delayed until Sept. to be approved by the board.

ASI’s Vice President of Finance, Peter Ucovich said the improvements are well worth the wait.

“The website, while boasting a more advanced user interface, will feature new services including the ability to fill out applications for DOC/SEL student and group loans, grants, and job applications,” said Ucovich.

The aforementioned applications have only been accepted in a typed format previously, so the luxury of filling them out online is substantial.
