Last Thursday at Serna Plaza, local rock sensations Willknotsplayed a free show courtesy of UNIQUE Productions. Although the crowd wasn?t as large as a month ago when they opened for Tenfold at the California State Fair, about two hundred people sat to enjoy the event.Kicking of the concert at 7 p.m. was Bay Area punk-pop group 10 After. Playing mostly high school teen anthems, they played as the sun went down and ended up with the longest set of the night. Following 10 After was Sacramento?s own, Daycare. Led by Phallucy front man David Garcia, Daycare delivered the tastiest goods of the night, exhibiting Garcia?s knack for writing catchy and rocking pop songs.Willknots took the stage next to entertain the crown with their Blink 182esk punk sound. By this time it was evident that most of the crowd was there to see them and had earlier secured their spot in the grass for a reason. Willknots put on an energetic show, however the crowd seemed to follow the unwritten rule that no one should stand on the Serna Plaza grass. Juts before the end of the set, lead singer Douglas Deibel somehow convinced most of the crowd to stand at the front of the stage. The band then went into their single “Bouncing off the Walls,” which has been receiving considerable radio airtime on KWOD 106.5. After the show was over the band passed out free CD?s and chatted with their fans at the side of the stage. It seems Willknots is coming closer and closer to being the next huge band out of Sacramento. Last Thursday, a few hundred people at Serna Plaza got to see why.
