Department of design presents ?Diversity? show

Jason Bretz

Sacramento State?s department of design is holding its ?Diversity? show in Mariposa Hall room 4000E. The exhibit displays the work of artists who major in graphic design, interior design or photography.

The exhibit allows a first-hand look at impressive art ranging from house floor plans and staircase designs to stationery and photographs. Artist StevenBaudonnet brings his darkened, powerful images through the lens of his camera and into the show, while Jim Miner also contributes some graphically vivid photography that provokes unexpected emotions. Vonita Murray and Marshall Perkins contribute work that is equally impressive, but of a more traditional beauty.

The elaborate designs of a music store created by Ana Hernandez is another high point of the exhibit, while Trish Springer provides one of the only graphic design pieces, making envelopes and business cards seem worthy of Picasso.

The show will conclude Sunday, and there will be an artists? reception Thursday night at 5:30 p.m.
