The Hornet Valorant team took first in ECAC seasonal playoffs, and SSBU took third from the opponents’ forfeit. NECC Valorant lost in semifinals, and Metashift earned a default win.

After a tight 2-1 match, the Sacramento State Valorant team won against Wayne State College, avenging the Smash Ultimate team’s loss to the same team. The NECC Gold Valorant team is headed to the NECC semifinals.

The Valorant loss ended the Hornets’ eight-win undefeated streak. The Smash Ultimate team’s final crew battle with Wayne State College went back and forth, with the Sac State team taking an early lead in their set before being stonewalled by a Mii Brawler for two sets.

Measure C on Sacramento’s ballot this year, also known as the Sacramento Community Stabilization and Fair Rent Charter Amendment, proposes the creation of a rent control board. The State Hornet has put together an FAQ answering the most common questions about the measure on the ballot.

A new sculpture named Tributary is being made for Sacramento State, commissioned by Vice President of Student Affairs Ed Mills.
A modern take on a classic painting with  Lupita Nyongo as The Girl with a Pearl Earring chalked in John C. Fremont Park by Beth Mederros during the annual Chalk It Up! Festival. The festival was held throughout the greater Sacramento area on Sept. 5 through Sept. 7, 2020 to allow for social distancing at each site.
