Sacramento speaks out: ‘No Kings’ protest at the State Capitol

Protesters call for change, fairness and unity against the Trump administration’s policies

Sacramento residents, students, veterans and activists gathered at the Capitol on Oct. 18, 2025 for the “No Kings Day” protest. The event was part of a national demonstration organized by the 50501 Movement against President Donald Trump. Protesters voiced concerns about democracy, immigration, policing and the treatment of minority groups. Many attendees said seeing others show up and demand change made them feel hopeful and united as they called for accountability.

(he/him) Eli Keller is a junior majoring in journalism. This is his first semester with The State Hornet, where he is a member of the multimedia staff. He loves film and ultimately wants to work in news or on documentaries. He watches a lot of news, reads a lot of books and spends a lot of time outdoors.

(she/her) Vivian Gonzalez is a fourth-year journalism major in her first semester at The State Hornet. She hopes to become a travel journalist. She likes to bake, watch new movies and try new spots to eat.
