Sac State Says: New housing requirements announced

Incoming students will soon be required to live on campus for two full years.

Starting fall 2026, Sacramento State will require all incoming freshmen to live on campus for two years. Hornets show how they feel about the new policy, its financial impact, and whether there will be housing to support the change.

(she/her) Claire Harrell is a third-year student majoring in journalism. She is going into her second semester at The State Hornet as a multimedia staffer. She hopes to gain skills in broadcast and multimedia to help her in her dream of working in broadcast journalism. In her free time, Claire enjoys reading, going on hikes, and spending time with her family and friends.

Eli Keller, Multimedia Staffer

(he/him) Eli Keller is a senior majoring in journalism. This is his second semester at The State Hornet where he is a part of the multimedia staff. In his time at The State Hornet, he has worked on several projects ranging from news, sports, podcasts, arts and entertainment to social media. He is passionate about film and ultimately wants to work in news or on documentaries.
