Claire Harrell, Multimedia Staffer

(she/her) Claire Harrell is a third-year student majoring in journalism. She is going into her second semester at The State Hornet as a multimedia staffer. She hopes to gain skills in broadcast and multimedia to help her in her dream of working in broadcast journalism. In her free time, Claire enjoys reading, going on hikes, and spending time with her family and friends.

Zachary Hernandez, Multimedia Editor

(he/him) Zachary Hernandez is a senior communication studies major and third semester in The State Hornet. In his free time, he enjoys relaxing, hanging out with friends, graphic design and filming. He hopes to have his own creative agency and help businesses develop their brands.

Vanessa Gomez, News Staffer

(she/her) Vanessa Gomez is a senior majoring in journalism. This is her third semester at The State Hornet and her first semester as a news staffer, having previously been a staffer for the visuals and multimedia sections. She previously was the news editor at San Joaquin Delta College’s student newspaper, The Collegian, for two semesters. She is also an intern at EdSource’s California Student Journalism Corps.

Tamer Bohatch, Sports Staffer

(he/him) Tamer Bohatch is a senior majoring in journalism. This is his second semester at The State Hornet in the sports section. While he is not writing Tamer loves to read, hangout with friends and family, watch sports and to relax.

Eli Keller, Multimedia Staffer

(he/him) Eli Keller is a senior majoring in journalism. This is his second semester at The State Hornet where he is a part of the multimedia staff. In his time at The State Hornet, he has worked on several projects ranging from news, sports, podcasts, arts and entertainment to social media. He is passionate about film and ultimately wants to work in news or on documentaries.

Anita Ratna Gautam, News Staffer

(she/her) Anita Ratna Gautam is a second-year political science and journalism major. This is her second semester working for The State Hornet as a news staffer. She is excited to extend her coverage for The State Hornet, diving into the depths of higher education and politics in Sacramento. Anita grew up in Russia and after college, hopes to write about the political state of her home. In her free time, she enjoys chugging Red Bulls, reading and rewatching the same five TV shows.

Jaiden Lopez, Sports Staffer

(she/her) Jaiden Lopez is a fourth-year political science and journalism major from Ventura County, California. She is in her first semester at The State Hornet and is currently the softball beat writer for the sports section. Lopez has played softball almost her entire life, she loves to play it, watch it and write about it. In her free time, Lopez loves to go on random side quests with her friends and when shes not doing that, she is most likely napping.
