Claire Harrell, Multimedia Staffer

(she/her) Claire Harrell is a third-year student majoring in journalism. She is going into her second semester at The State Hornet as a multimedia staffer. She hopes to gain skills in broadcast and multimedia to help her in her dream of working in broadcast journalism. In her free time, Claire enjoys reading, going on hikes, and spending time with her family and friends.

Zachary Hernandez, Multimedia Editor

(he/him) Zachary Hernandez is a senior communication studies major and third semester in The State Hornet. In his free time, he enjoys relaxing, hanging out with friends, graphic design and filming. He hopes to have his own creative agency and help businesses develop their brands.

Delaney Joyce, Editor-in-Chief

(she/her) Delaney Joyce is entering her sixth semester at The State Hornet, and her final semester as editor-in-chief. Previously, she was the arts & entertainment editor, focusing on feature stories and event coverage across the Sacramento region. As a senior public relations and communication studies student, she hopes to pursue a career in media.

Eli Keller, Multimedia Staffer

(he/him) Eli Keller is a senior majoring in journalism. This is his second semester at The State Hornet where he is a part of the multimedia staff. In his time at The State Hornet, he has worked on several projects ranging from news, sports, podcasts, arts and entertainment to social media. He is passionate about film and ultimately wants to work in news or on documentaries.

Lizeth Tello, Copy Editor

(she/her) Lizeth Tello is a senior journalism major from Orange County entering her third and final semester at The State Hornet as a copy editor. She was previously a news staffer, reporting on various on-campus topics ranging from the school budget to protests and more. She is passionate about storytelling and is excited to share her knowledge with The State Hornet staff. Other places her work has appeared in include Saddleback College’s Lariat newspaper, WALL Literary Journal 2022 and 2023 edition, October Hill Magazine, The Sacramento Observer and PBS KVIE Abridged. She hopes to continue a career in editing and storytelling.

Tamer Bohatch, Sports Staffer

(he/him) Tamer Bohatch is a senior majoring in journalism. This is his second semester at The State Hornet in the sports section. While he is not writing Tamer loves to read, hangout with friends and family, watch sports and to relax.

Jaiden Lopez, Sports Staffer

(she/her) Jaiden Lopez is a fourth-year political science and journalism major from Ventura County, California. She is in her first semester at The State Hornet and is currently the softball beat writer for the sports section. Lopez has played softball almost her entire life, she loves to play it, watch it and write about it. In her free time, Lopez loves to go on random side quests with her friends and when shes not doing that, she is most likely napping.
