Receiving the ball on the edge of the Sacramento State box, Weber State freshman forward Simone Packer maneuvered through multiple Hornets and took a shot.
The shot from Packer ended up deflected by Sac State fifth-year defender Isabella Vinsonhaler. The ball then found its way to Wildcat senior forward Sayler Schlosser, who played it back to sophomore defender Hannah Kallias.
Kallias then passed it back to Schlosser on the right side of Hornet territory. Schlosser then drove through the right side of the Hornet defense and dribbled towards the byline.
Running out of space, Schlosser struck the ball and snuck it past freshman goalkeeper Cynthia Waller into the top right corner.

The Schlosser goal in the 82nd minute capped off a 6-0 dominant display by the Wildcats.
“I thought, defensively, we weren’t tight enough,” head coach Randy Dedini said. “And really what hurt us in the first 20 minutes was we weren’t connecting our passes, simple passes going out of bounds. So, we ended up defending a lot more than we should have been.”
Due to their strong start, the Wildcats were able to get two goals within the opening 25 minutes, which ultimately set the tone for the rest of the match. The Hornets had no answers for anything the Wildcats were giving them throughout the 90 minutes.
The Hornets failed to play through the pressure that the Wildcats had enforced during the game. Trying to play the ball forward, the Hornets occasionally got their passes broken up by the Wildcats, or the pass ended up nowhere near a Hornet, resulting in a turnover.
The best chance for the Hornets came after the first two Wildcat goals in the first half.
At around the halfway line, Vinsonhaler won the ball back for the Hornets and spotted junior forward Micaela Romo on the right-hand side in Wildcat territory.
Vinsonhaler played the ball all the way across the pitch to Romo, who then cut it in and played a through ball to junior forward Tea Reyes inside the box.
Reyes then received the ball from Romo and took a shot on her left foot. The shot from Reyes deflected off the post and fell into the grasp of freshman goalkeeper Lauren Butorac.
Although conceding five goals, redshirt junior goalkeeper Izzy Palmatier was one of the only bright spots for the Hornets. Making a total of 10 saves, Palmatier played her part in the Hornets’ damage control.
The Hornets faced a total of 32 shots throughout the game, while only managing to threaten the Wildcats four times.
Back to back losses on the road has the Hornets currently sitting in the sixth position in the Big Sky Conference standings. With two games left in the conference, the Hornets will need to turn the form around or hope that results in other games go their way, if they want to maintain their position and qualify for the Big Sky Soccer Championship.
“The season is still in front of us, there’s still six points,” Dedini said. “We just have to get into the playoffs and do as we did last year and make a run at the end.”
The Hornets will look to right their wrongs and get back on track when they travel to take on Montana on Sunday, Oct. 19 at 11 a.m.
