The 2008 5-on-5 Intramural Basketball playoffs began Tuesday and continued through Thursday with 40 teams seeking to gain the title of champion to establish their dominance in the courts over all the rest.

The 40 teams are divided into two brackets representing the teams playing the Monday/Wednesday games and the teams that are playing Tuesday/Thursday games. The finalists of each bracket will face off in the championship game to be held at 9 p.m. on March 25 in the Hornets Nest of Yosemite Hall, where all the games are being held.

There are 27 teams competing in the Monday/Wednesday bracket and 13 competing in the Tuesday/Thursday bracket.

This week, the following teams will advance to play at 8 p.m. on Monday: The Entity, Numero Uno, Big Foots, Tau Kappa Epsilon, Chocolate, Sig Ep, Stewy Click, Ballin’ is a Habit, Rebels, Team Salinas, Untouchables, Practice?, Staff Infection, and Multi Score.

Kappa Sigma teams A & B, Bidness Majors, Shake n Bake, Boo Cake, Lancers, Ground Zero, RhoDawgs, Cheap Shots, the PIKEs, A.S. All-Stars, Barons, and LCA were all knocked out on Wednesday.

On Tuesday, 10 teams from the Tuesday/Thursday bracket competed. The teams Get Money, Ice Water, Gators, Poor Sports, and Can’t Hold Us advanced to play Thursday while Drapeset, Blue Ballz, Field Biology, Taro Baap and I’m Yelling were knocked out of the tournament.

Following the Thursday games, the following teams will advance to play at 9 p.m. on Tuesday: Hoop Stallions, Team Global, Poor Sports, and Dynasty Ridaz. Can’t Hold Us, Gators, Ice Water and Get Money were knocked out.
