Football wins on final play of game

Sacramento State Hornet quarterback Jason Smith found Tony Washington in the back of the end zone for the game-winning touchdown as time expired during Saturday’s football game against Northern Colorado. The Hornets beat the Bears 20-17.
The Hornets rushed for a season high 312 yards. Bryan Hilliard ran for 168 yards and a touchdown while Travon Jones contributed 130 yards. The Hornets ended up with 429 total yards of offense and 44 of the Hornets 117 passing yards came on the last play of the game.
The Hornets were down to the Bears 3-0 at halftime, but managed to put up 20-second half points to come away with the victory.
The win brings the Hornets record to 2-8 overall and 2-5 in the Big Sky conference.
Northern Colorado falls to 1-10 on the season and 1-6 in Big Sky play with the loss.
The Hornets will face Idaho State at Hornet Stadium for the last game of the season at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 17.
