Eat and relax with great Mexican food
January 7, 2007
If you’re looking for a fun restaurant with quality and affordable food, Los Jarritos is the place. Located at 2509 Broadway, Los Jarritos is a great place to go to eat, relax and watch a game.
Los Jarritos is open until nine, great for those who don’t like to eat early. The service is excellent, the atmosphere is nice and most of all, the food is good. It wasn’t the best Mexican food I’ve ever had, but for the price, it might as well have been. You can get two chicken enchiladas, beans and rice for only $4.50. Now that is a price a college student can afford!
“It’s a neighborhood staple,” Clarissa Doutherd, 25, a regular at the restaurant said. “They’ve been there for a really long time. They’re well known in the community.”
The water was good, the salsa bar admirable, and the guacamole was fantastic. “The food is satisfying,” said Doutherd. For $4, you can get a Super burrito wrapped in a 14″ tortilla filled with the options of various meats, seafood and vegetarian. The burritos also include sour cream, guacamole and salsa.
The beans were delicious and the rice was excellent, but the quesadilla was disappointing. The chips were fresh and tasty, but they don’t give you very many with your meal, I only had about five. The good news is that extra chips are available for only 25 cents.
The menu has a good selection of items, especially drinks. They offer all of the major sodas as well as many different juices and coffees. The beer and wine selection is wide too. I chose the Pacifico beer which was a perfect combination. A beer can blend great with a fine cooked Mexican meal.
Los Jarritos also has a really good vibe. You can feel the community tie and its ambience is warm and kind. You might get asked to give up some cash if you sit outside; a couple folks asked us for change.
Another feature the restaurant offers are two TV’s that play sports. Los Jarritos is a kicked back, chill kind of place. Good people, good food, and good TV. Overall, it’s definitely worth going to and I would eat there again anytime. It offers great Mexican food and it is cheap- the most important advantage for college students.
