Bizarre Web sites Reign Supreme

The Internet is filled with millions of bizarre, and twisted sites. Unfortunately I can only list five of these sites. Each site is unique in it’s own way but they all share a strangeness that sets them apart from the rest of the web!

Donniedarko.com is top choice in bizarre web sites. In 2002, the Webby Awards named Donniedarko.com the best of the web. This site is based on the highly acclaimed independent film Donnie Darko, but the film’s web site offers little information about the film. Donniedarko.com, created by hi-res experimental design studio, takes a non-traditional, non-promotional, and non-linear approach in designing the web site. The links are unusually placed and often scattered on each level of the site. The web site also allows the user to interact through easy to find passwords and hidden links. Donniedarko is also filled with plenty of graphics that include killer bunnies, Smurfs, and bizarre newspaper clippings.

Requiemforadream.com has several similarities to donniedarko.com. First, like donniedarko, requiemforadream is also based on an independent film Requiem for a Dream. Requiem also follows a non-linear, non-promotional format. This web site has several layers and paths to choose from. Requiem uses bold graphics and unusual navigation links to get to each level in order to keep the user engaged in the web site. Requiemforadream.com like the movie concentrates on the subject of addiction. Food, gambling, and drugs are some of the addictions this web site explores in a creative and to the point ways.

Visit www.generation.nl/~hitoshi/ If you like dairy products and women, this is the web site for you! The title of the this page?.”Welcomed To My Page!!! I Like Milk!!!” This web page is dedicated to Mr. Hitoshi. He offers the viewer pictures along with information about himself. Hitoshi lives in Tokyo. His interests include baseball, naked women, and dairy products (especially milk.) Hitoshi claims to drink 3-4 pints a day!) His other interests are equally amusing and enjoyable to read!

www.try2hack.nl, hosted by media monks, is an interesting site because it encourages the user to hack through each of its levels using all means possible. Each level is set up with a prompt asking for the password. Once the player is in the higher levels the task is much harder and complicated. This site is interesting and much more challenging then an average computer game. You can also learn about interesting software and security programs as you play along.

http://Mindcontrolforums.com is a web site hosted by Heart, MTC Online Forums. This web site is another Webby Award winner. This web site won the strangest on the web award. This elaborate web site offers photographs, articles, testimony and even surveys on mind control and how the CIA is covering up. Mindcontrolforums.com also offers other resources such as books and videotapes. There are “declassified CIA and military documents” on the subject of ESP and mind control as well. The host explains that the information provided is not checked for accuracy or truth. This web site is definitely bizarre but the moral of this web page is don’t believe everything written on the web! These sites definitely have a way of burning their image into one’s mind as well as inspiring new bizarre images. Hopefully you will enjoy them as much as I do.
