Students at Sacramento State who want to make a difference in the lives of local, at risk high school students can now do so through the Criminal Justice Department’s Sac-Mentoring program.

This program is open to any student who wants to help at risk students from Sacramento High School. This is a service learning program and students who are mentors will receive three academic units in CRJ 198.

“This looks so good on your resume,” said Dana Maher, the coordinator of the Sac-Mentoring program. “This is also a great way to gain the experience of working with children who need the guidance of a mentor.”

Orientation sessions for the program will be held on September 13 and 14, in Douglas Hall 212. The sessions will be at 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. on the 13th and at 5 p.m., 6:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. on the 14th.

The program is free for students from Sac State and Sacramento High School. The program is funded by the university and supported by Sacramento High School.

If you would like to get more information you can contact Dana Maher at the criminal justice department at 278-5094 or attend the orientation sessions.
