Ellie Appleby is a transfer student from Sacramento City College majoring in journalism, and this is her first semester on The State Hornet. Ellie has won several awards for her photography and has a degree in photography from the Academy of Art University. Ellie has also served as photo editor for Sacramento City College’s newspaper, called the Express. Ellie has been able to use her skills as both a staff writer and photographer from her two past internships at news publications, the Benicia Herold and Capitol Weekly, and has also freelanced for Solving Sacramento. She currently works as a freelance photographer for Capitol Weekly and looks forward to a full-time career as a journalist and photojournalist after graduating from Sacramento State University.
