Two people reportedly claiming to be Sacramento State students allegedly part of scam

A man and a woman, claiming to be Sacramento State theater students, may  be going door-to-door asking for money. They are allegedly attempting to sell children’s books for the UC Davis Children’s Hospital to fund a trip.

A Sac State professor reported people came to her house to ask for money. Thinking it was a scam, the professor did not give any money and called the Department of Theater and Dance and campus police.

“Someone called yesterday, reporting people in her neighborhood, saying they were with the theater department,” said administrative support coordinator Cindy Piccinini. “We never send students out to solicit for donations. All donations to the department are accepted in conjunction with a performance – either theater or dance. We’ll give a performance and ask for donations, but we never send anyone out in the community.”

Updates will be posted as more information becomes available.
