Couple rescued from water treatment plant
April 2, 2012
Two adults were rescued from a water treatment plant down the street from the Sacramento State Tuesday evening.
A man identified as 21-year-old Eric Sleeman was with a woman whose name has not been released yet. The couple is suspected of trespassing into the water plant while intoxicated.
While in the plant, the woman fell into the water plant’s holding pool and was not able to get out. She was treading 6 to 8 feet of water and was rescued by Sacramento Fire Department.
The woman was in the water for almost an hour before she was reached. When taken out of the water she was mildly hypothermic and taken to a local hospital.
It is not known how these two were able to get by the security cameras. The plants security system is in question and tapes are being reviewed to find out how the alleged trespass occurred.
Sleeman is facing charges of trespassing and the woman will also be facing charges as soon as she recovers.
