Faculty members across the state inched closer to a pay raise as the California State University Board of Trustees’ Committee on Collective Bargaining voted today to ratify its latest contract proposal, according to a CSU press release.

The proposal, which is expected to be ratified by the entire board on Wednesday was originally made by CSU administrators on April 3.

If ratified, the contract guarantees faculty members a 20.7 percent general salary increase, for the 2006 to 2010 contract cycle, with a possible 4 percent increase to adjust for raises.

Under the new contract, projected average salaries will be $105,531, for full professors, $90,593, for tenure track faculty members and $53,677, for part-time lecturers, according to a press release. The four-year agreement is expected to cost the CSU more than $400 million.

“Our focus now is on ensuring the university has adequate resources to pay for these compensation increases,” said Chancellor Charles Reed. “We will continue working with the Legislature and the Governor to secure additional funding to minimize campus impacts.”
