Now is the time to look for an on-campus job for next semester, according to Pushpita Mukherjee, a Sacramento State student andemployee of the Student Activities Center.

Mukherjee found her job as a representative at the SAC byscanning the job board available for students inside the center. The job board is an extension of the employment postings from SacState’s Career Center.

The board contains between 30-60 on and off-campus job postingslooking for student workers. Students can view the board on severalcomputers located within the SAC or in the Career Center.

“It’s great, the job board here at SAC is new and Ithink it is the best way for students like me to findemployment,” Mukherjee said. “That’s how I foundthis job.”

As a graduate student of electrical engineering, she said it canbe difficult to find employment that will work around schoolschedules and academic activities.

Inside the Career Center, internship manager Candace McGee saidthat they are pleased with the new extensions through SAC,especially during this time of the year.

“Employers are constantly sending us jobs,” McGeesaid. “Everyday we update the board with the newpostings.”

She said both the university and private employers utilize thejob board and seek out student employees.

“The best thing is that the employers know they areposting through an institution,” McGee said. “The hoursand schedules of the positions are more flexible. They’rewilling to work around students’ schedules.”

On Thursday, the job board had 37 part-time jobs, 44 full-timejobs and 41 internships available. There are a variety of jobdescriptions and wages, ranging from minimum wage food service tocompanies such as UPS and Fed-Ex.

McGee said Sac State puts a lot of their available positions onthe board, and six of the positions in Thursday’s line-upwere on-campus jobs.

The Career Center’s mass-hiring events are also posted.Sac State’s dining services will be holding a mass-hiringevent in mid-January and are looking for 32 employees to work oncampus for next semester. Other private dining businesses locatedon campus will be invited to seek employment.

“We never run out of job opportunities forstudents,” McGee said.
