Find entertainment that excites you
November 14, 2000
At the end of the day, a lot of us retire into our living rooms, lounge on the couch and lay there in zombie mode in front of our televisions. And why not, after a long hard day anyone has a right to sit and be entertained.
But how about finding other ways to entertain yourself instead of relying on “The Box?”
“The Box” a.k.a. television currently serves as the most powerful medium.
The power is in the influence. And it’s influential because it’s popular. That should be a warning flag right there- do you really want to do what everyone else is doing? Probably so, maybe not, but people should start putting those remote controls down and finding other useful ways to use their hands.
How about when you go home, turn on some music and dance naked in your bedroom. You can use your hands to “Vogue.”
Read a book, any book.. Yes even reading those Jackie Collins and Danielle
Steel books is better than watching television…although most people don’t see the difference. But it doesn’t matter, because regardless if it’s a fashion magazine or a classic book, reading is better than watching any situation comedy.
Go online, start a fight in the chatrooms. At least you’ll create some dialogue. Or better yet, check out various web pages, and READ. The contents on these web pages, specifically the ones about how to improve your life, is usually more entertaining than educational.
Like this article for example, (grin).
But seriously, the next time you go home at the end of the day, resist the urge to lay like a vegetable in front of a machine. Get up! Do something, anything that will stimulate your mind and body.
Besides entertainment is supposed to excite you, not numb you.
