Abandoned portion of Country Club Plaza transformed into “Walk-in Coffin”

Looking for a haunted house to visit this year, but don?t want to have to drive far from home? Sacramento State students are in luck because one of the very few haunted houses in the Sacramento area this year will be located near Sac State in the Country Club Plaza on the corner of Watt Ave. and El Camino Ave.

The Sacramento Metropolitan Firefighters Association and Best of Broadway are presenting the haunted house, entitled, “Walk-in Coffin,” this year. The haunted house will be open on a nightly basis from Friday, Oct. 20 until Halloween night.

With the help of the Country Club Plaza and an abandoned Lerner?s near the Macy?s end of the mall, Walk-in Coffin is able to display a variety of different features. The haunted house offers an amazing feature of an 18-room maze with individual themes within each room. One trip through the house will take approximately 20-25 minutes.

“The Walk-in Coffin is very scary. The last room will make you splatter your pants,” according to Cathy Eilers, Assistant Managing Director for Best of Broadway.

With most of the other main haunted houses out of commission or re-located this year, Walk-in Coffin looks to be the best bet for an evening full of spirits and scares for the Sacramento area.

If you?re looking to bring your children, younger sibling, or maybe your boyfriend to a more toned down version of the thrills, the Walk-in Coffin offers a milder showing nightly between 6 p.m. and 7 p.m.

The proceeds will benefit the Best of Broadway Benefit Productions, Inc., the Firefighters Pacific Burn Institute, the Sacramento County Association of Reserve Deputy Sheriffs and the Sacramento Metropolitan Firefighters Association.

Tickets are $10 per person and can be bought at the door of the Walk-in Coffin.
