The California State University Board of Trustees have selected Sacramento State alumnus Lester Holt to receive an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters on May 23.

Holt will also speak at the commencement ceremony.

Jaccie Irwin, professor in the Communication Studies Department, has been lobbying for Holt to be chosen for the nomination while serving on the Honorary Doctorate committee.

Communication Studies Department Chair Steven Buss confirmed the nomination in an email after he had sent out a mass email to all faculty and staff in the department.
