Limited H1N1 vaccines available on campus
December 11, 2009
The Student Health Center has received H1N1 vaccines and will be administering them this week and next week.
There will be enough vaccines to administer to priority groups, said Katherine Ledesma, administrative assistant to the director. These include pregnant women, caregivers of children under the age of six months, health care workers, persons between the ages of six months and 24 years, and adults between the ages 25 and 65 with high-risk medical conditions.
The vaccines were supposed to arrive earlier this semester. Ledesma said the health center does not have control over the delay.
“It’s the county health that dispersed them and they just sent them to us this week,” Ledesma said. “We’re not given reasons why it’s delayed.”
Ledesma said the health center received a ‘partial shipment’ of about a thousand vaccines.
The swine flu vaccines will be administered at the following locations:
American River Courtyard Friday, Dec. 11 from 10 a.m. to noon and from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, Dec. 14 from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
