San Jose State spoils baseball’s comeback attempt, prevails 5-4
March 17, 2008
Late-game heroics by the Hornets were not enough to stop San Jose State from beating the green and gold 5-4 Sunday. Sacramento State tied the game at four in the top of the ninth inning only to watch Jason Martin connect on a walk-off RBI single with one out in the bottom of the inning.
Four Hornets recorded two hits apiece: senior David Flores, senior Ryan Blair, sophomore Tim Wheeler and senior Brian Boyd. Martin contributed two RBIs and two walks for San Jose State.
The Hornets’ record is now 4-11 and 1-3 in conference. The Spartans have moved up to 11-5 (3-1 in conference) after taking three of four from Sac State this weekend.
The next game for the Hornets comes at 2 p.m. Friday, when they will face Gonzaga at home.
