Sacramento State will partner up with the University Union UNIQUE program to host an evening of comedy, fun and laughter with the San Francisco International Comedy Competition.

The event will come to the Sac State campus October 5 at 7:30 p.m. in the University Union ballroom.

For over twenty years this event has served as an opportunity for many up and coming young comics to display their comedic prowess across the country. Past winners and finalists include Dana Carvey, Sinbad, Ellen DeGeneres and Robin Williams.

The exciting event is being presented by the city of Sacramento and the Sac State campus for the second time due to positive response for the show in the past.

“Comedy?has always been a well attended event on this campus,” said Bill Olmsted, program coordinator for UNIQUE. “Last year?s show was so successful that we immediately booked the event again for this year,”

The semi-final round, hosted by past competition finalist Matt Weinhold, will feature ten of the nation’s top comedians. These talented few will be under pressure to perform their best 10 to 12 minutes of material and will be judged by audience applause.

The evening should prove to be an outstanding showcase of high caliber comedy talent that everyone will enjoy.

Tickets are on sale now. Advance tickets are $8.00 for general admission and $5.50 for Sac State students.

Tickets are available at the Sac State Central Ticket Office and at Tickets.com. The Ticket Office will also stay open past normal hours on the night of the show to accommodate any late sales. For more information call (916) 278-6997.
