Campus police investigates reported sexual battery
July 6, 2016
A reported sexual battery said to have occurred on campus Tuesday morning is currently being investigated by the Sacramento State Police Department, according to an email sent to students Wednesday.
According to police, the victim reported that the suspect, who was riding a BMX-style bicycle, approached her from behind and grabbed her buttocks while she was walking to campus on Sinclair Road at approximately 8:15 a.m.
The suspect is described as a black male in his late 20s with dark short curly hair and wearing a white or black shirt. The email also states that the suspect “appeared to be a transient.”
The police advise students to take precautions, including programming the department’s dispatch number, 916-278-6000, into their cellphones. Students are further encouraged to learn the locations of the blue emergency phones located on campus, utilize the Hornet Night Shuttle service when leaving campus at night and be aware of their surroundings at all times.
The Sacramento State Police Department did not immediately return a request for comment.
